Effective October 9, 2026, ATF's updated enforcement policy no longer requires mandatory NFA Form 4 approval or registration for suppressor and short-barreled rifle (SBR) transfers. Purchases remain subject to ATF Form 4473, applicable background checks, and all federal, state, and local laws.
